Motherboard makers hold different views on 4Q outlook
While Asustek Computer is optimistic about the outlook of the motherboard market for the fourth quarter, Gigabyte Technology and Micro-Star International (MSI) have a more conservative attitude, according to the companies.
Asustek has not heard about slow demand in the market for the fourth quarter, said Jonathan Tsang, president for sales and marketing at Asustek Computer. He also added Asustek is confident it will achieve its annual shipment goal of 63 million motherboards and 15 million graphic cards in 2007. Gigabyte predicted that its motherboard shipments are expected to drop 5-10% sequentially during the fourth quarter as back-to school and year-end holiday demand are not as strong as usual. Demand in the OEM market will remain flat while its own-brand market will drop slightly during the fourth quarter, the company estimated.
