HP Unveils Windows 8 Business Tablet - HP ElitePad 900

Early this morning Hewlett-Packard announced the new ElitePad 900 tablet with Windows 8 that is targeted to business users. The tablet has a 10.1-inch diagonal display and runs an Intel Atom Z2760 dual-core processor (Clover Trail), which has a clock speed of 1.8GHz. The tablet weighs about 680 grams (1.5lbs) and is 9.2-millimeters thick. The Gorilla Glass screen can display images at a 1280 by 800 resolution. The HP ElitePad 900 also has full serviceability, enhanced security and manageability found in HP Elite PCs, and military-grade durability for drops, vibration, dust, temperature extremes and high altitude. A tablet that is easily disassembled to replace components is pretty much unheard of, so it is nice to see a company like HP pushing a design like this!

HP will not be releasing the ElitePad 900 tablet until January 2013, so no pricing was mentioned. We expect to see 32GB and 64GB models at launch with prices starting under $700. A microSD slot will be available to expand the memory if needed.

“Businesses used to face a tough purchase decision: How to find a product that will delight employees and help them be more productive, while also making sure IT can secure and manage it,” said Todd Bradley, executive vice president, Printing and Personal Systems, HP. “The HP ElitePad meets all those tests. It combines the great style and user experience consumers demand with the features IT requires.”
