HiCookie & Andre Yang Overclock Intel Ivy Bridge Processors Over 7GHz w/ LN2

There are some new records that we wanted to show off this morning when it comes to overclocking the Intel Core i7-3770K processor. Overclocker HiCookie used a GIGABYTE Z77X-UD3H motherboard to surpass the 7.0 GHz milestone on Ivy Bridge on May 29th, 2012. He was able to reach a fully validated 7.03 GHz using liquid nitrogen cooling and Gigabyte issued a press release to brag about the feat. This was regarded as the highest Ivy Bridge CPU frequency and a world record, but that title was short lived as this morning it was broken. Another famous overclocker, Andre Yang, was able to reach a validated 7.07 GHz using the same model processor on the ASUS MAXIMUS V Gene motherboard. It looks like we have a good ole fashioned ASUS versus Gigabyte motherboard battle here! It looks like Ivy Bridge does pretty well with Liquid Nitrogen if you really want to push the limits of what your hardware can do. I'm happy with my 5 GHz overclock on the Core i7-3770K with water cooling!

validated 7.07 GHz

“These new world records highlight our belief that top notch quality and design deliver truly world-class, record breaking performance,” commented Tim Handley, Deputy Director of Motherboard Marketing at GIGABYTE. “These new performance achievements come at a very opportune time as we prepare to introduce our next generation high-performance CPU power zone at Computex 2012, and we’re expecting even better results from motherboard models with this new feature!”
