ASUS Shows Off Project Danshui Bay Motherboard at Computex 2011

Over at Computex an interesting concept motherboard is making some buzz over at the ASUS booth. The board is called project Danshui Bay and what makes it special is that it has two different processor sockets on it, one being LGA 1366 and the other LGA 2011. The point of the board is that you can run an Intel 'Gulftown' LGA1366 on it and when you are ready to upgrade you can later drop in your Sandy Bridge E processor and not have to change out the board. We aren't certain, but we assume that you can run both at the same time as the sign says 'Combines, you can take advantage of both with the Danshui Bay motherboard. The one thing I noticed about this concept board is that there aren't any PCI Express slots on it! It looks like there are PCI Express slots under the sign, which is still a weird spot as a full length video card would hit the memory slots!

Project Danshui Bay - When 2011 meets 1366
The Danshui Bay concept motherboard comes with 2 CPU sockets, one 20111 and the other 1366. It can fully utilize Intel Gulftown CPU when upgrading to the new platform. The Intel Gulftown CPUs offer great overclocking capability while the next generation CPU is better in multi-tasking computing. Combined, you can take advantage of both with the Danshui Bay motherboard.
