SiSoftware Sandra 2009 SP3
SiSoftware Sandra (the System Analyser, Diagnostic and Reporting Assistant) is an information & diagnostic utility. Sandra provides most of the information (including undocumented) you need to know about your hardware, software and other devices whether hardware or software. In order to test the hard drive SiSoftware Sandra 2009 SP3 was used as part of the test suite. The graphical results that Sandra gives you after the test is completed nicely shows how drives perform over time and where at on the drive the performance is seen.
READ Performance Testing:
Benchmark Results: In the read performance test that is used in SANDRA 2009 SP3, the Seagate Momentus 7200.2 200GB had a read speed of 51.988MBps and the WD Scorpio Blue 500GB had a read speed of 64.751MBps. That makes the WD Scorpio Blue 500GB 25% faster than the Seagate Momentus 7200.2 200GB!
Benchmark Results: In the write performance test that is used in SANDRA 2009 SP3, the Seagate Momentus 7200.2 200GB Notebook hard drive had a write speed of 45.052MBps and the WD Scorpio Blue 500GB had a write speed of 62.935MBps. This is a ~40% difference in write speed, which is a significant difference!
