HD Tune v3.50
HD Tune Pro 3.50 is an extended version of HD Tune which includes many new features such as: write benchmark, secure erasing, AAM setting, folder usage view, disk monitor, command line parameters and file benchmark.
READ Test:
Benchmark Results: HD Tune showed that the WD Scorpio Blue 500GB had a slightly higher read transfer rate and nearly double the burst rate than seen on the Seagate Momentus 7200.2 200GB notebook hard drive.
WRITE Test:
Benchmark Results: In the write test the results were the same as the WD Scorpio Blue had better average write and burst speeds, but lower access times.
64MB File Test
Benchmark Results: Running the built-in file benchmark test in HD Tune showed that the WD Scorpio Blue averaged 80MB/Sec compared to just 55-65MB/Sec on the Seagate Momentus 7200.2. The temperature difference between the drives should also be noted. HD Tune reported a constant 10-12C difference between the two hard drives with the better thermals being on the WD.
