Setup continued and Screenshots
Now that we have got our input signal decision cleared up, it’s time to fire up Media Center. If you have not done this before it will guide you through a set up. It will also run through the stations that are available near your area and show the signal strength of each one so you can choose which you’d like added to the guide. If you have already gone through the setup you’ll need to manually run through it again to add the AIW.
Once through setup the guide will download and you’ll be ready to watch. Ahh…HDTV.
In our first screen capture you can see that the ATI card does a great job capturing OTA signals. Once you get used to HD it’s hard to go back to SD, especially if your watching sporting events, or The Big Bang Theory. Note that our source is at 1080i resolution but captured at 2560x1600 as we were using a Dell 30” widescreen monitor for TV duties. At 2500x1600 it’s overkill for current HD standards but does the job well.
FM stereo reception was also good, I was able to pick up many of the local stations without a hiccup. I was impressed at just how easy this was to use within Media Center, just input a station and it was up and streaming.
