2008 E3 Media & Business Summit
Well, here we are at the 2008 E3 Media & Business Summit in downtown Los Angeles. Like almost every other gaming and technology website, Legit Reviews will be attending the conference to learn the latest and greatest from gaming publishers and hardware manufacturers. As most people know, this is a new era for E3 and its owner the Entertainment Software Association (ESA).
In 2007, the ESA decided that E3 had become too much of a spectacle of sorts and decreed that in the future, events will be scaled back and targeted to industry professionals and media as an invitation-only affair. The mega-event traditionally held at Los Angeles’ Convention Center in May with over 450 exhibitors was broken up into two much smaller events: E For All which gives consumers – or Gamers - an opportunity to test-drive the latest and never-before seen video games. This is what people normally think of when they think of when they think of E3.
The second event the ESA revamped was the E3 Media & Business Summit. This event is supposed to be purely focusing in getting media, developers and executives in small private meetings to generate buzz about upcoming releases. There is not supposed to be that many game demonstrations, but rather, it gives the media an opportunity to talk directly to designers and PR folks without a bunch of hoopla and screaming speakers…oh, and no booth babes.
When E for All went down last October, the result was a much smaller number of vendor participants and conference-goers. Expectations are mixed for the gaming community for the Media & Business Summit, but we here at Legit Reviews are optimistic that there will be positive news to report– specifically in the area of PC enthusiast hardware.
