Overclocking on this board was just as fun and easy as I remember it being on the 600 series of boards from nVidia. The ability to unlink the CPU and Memory is just an awesome option that I wish other chipsets would incorporate into their lines. It certainly makes things a lot easier! We began overclocking exercises by leaving the CPU multiplier at default (9x), and by raising the vcore to 1.45v. The board actually under-volts a bit. At this vcore the CPU was fairly warm, hovering around 60*C. The following picture shows you what we were able to get from the CPU at the default multiplier.
We reached a fsb speed of 417fsb. Those are pretty good results from taking our QX6859 from 3.0 to 3.75GHz! Next, we lowered the multiplier to 7x, and raised the fsb up until we could no longer maintain stability. Take a look!
In all honesty we really did think we would get a bit more out of it, but certainly, 477fsb is nothing to laugh at! A very good overclock I would say!
