EVGA e-GeForce 9600 GT SSC
The retail box of the EVGA e-GeForce 9600 GT SSC Edition might look boring, but don't let the plain box decieve you.
EVGA is offering three difference GeForce 9600 GT graphics cards and all are overclocked. Not one comes at the NVIDIA reference frequencies, which is a bit different. The GeForce 9600 GT Superclocked 512MB card is $179.99 and has an increased core and shader clock frequencies. The GeForce 9600 GT KO raises the bar even more, and finally we have the GeForce 9600 GT SSC Edition, the mac daddy of the EVGA 9600 GT series. The EVGA card that we will be looking at today has part number 512-P3-N867-AR, which makes it the SSC Edition! At $209.99 this card features an amazing 740MHz core, 1835MHz shader and 1950MHz memory clock frequencies. This card screams bring on the benchmarks!
EVGA kept the NVIDIA reference design and uses the standard single slot cooling solution. Under normal gaming conditions, this fan gives off barely a whisper, which is nice considering what we have heard in the past.
The EVGA e-GeForce 9600 GT features two dual-link, HDCP-enabled DVI-I outputs for connection to analog and digital PC monitors and HDTVs, a 7-pin analog video-out port that supports S-Video directly, plus composite and component (YPrPb) outputs via an optional dongle that is included with the bundle.
Inside the box, one will find the expected bundle that comes with most brands of video cards. The bundle included with the EVGA e-GeForce 9600 GT 512MB includes a pair of DVI-to-VGA adapters, HDTV dongle, an S-Video cable, 6-pin PCI Express power adapter, case stickers and installation instructions. The Driver disc included NVIDIA Forceware drivers and some other software like FRAPS, Adobe Reader, a DIVX player and more.
