ECS Throws Their AMD 7 Series Chipset Board Into The Mix.
With the release of the Phenom processors, manufactures have been ramping up production of compatible chipsets to support the new CPU. Following suite, ECS released the A770M-A motherboard, which is their mainstream offering of the AMD 7 series chipset. Here is a quick feature list:
The ECS A770M-A is targeted at the budget market segment for under $70.00 plus shipping. However, ECS packs in a fair amount of important features for the price. The board supports the new Phenom processors. It also has 4 DIMM slots supporting up to 32GB of Dual Channel DDR2-800. On board is GbE, 8 Channel HD Audio (provided by the Realtek ALC883 codec), 4 SATA II (RAID0, 1,0+1), 1 PATA, 6 USB 2.0, 1 eSATA and supports an additional 4 more USB ports provided by front panel connections.
This board is based on the new AMD 770 + SB600 chipset combination. So let’s dig in and find out how it performs out of the box.
