The Test System

Testing Procedure:
All testing was done on a fresh install of Windows XP Professional build 2600 with Service Pack 2 and DirectX 9.0c. All benchmarks were completed on the desktop with no other software programs running. All of the modules were run in dual channel mode with a 120mm fan placed on top of them to keep them cool! The XFX GeForce 8800 GTX used ForceWare 158.22 video card drivers and the ASUS P5K3 motherboard was updated from BIOS version 0405 that was used in our last DDR3 article to BIOS version 0604 by using ASUS flash. This BIOS update did impact the performance numbers, so if you own this motherboard you will want to update to the latest BIOS.
Memory Settings: (The Processor was set to 450MHz FSB x 8 Multiplier = 3.60GHz on all kits)
- Corsair Twin3X2048-1333C9DHX - 9-9-9-24 1T @ 1350MHz (slighty overclocked)
- Corsair TWIN3X2048-1800C7DF - 7-7-7-20 2T @ 1800MHz
- Corsair TWIN3X2048-1800C7DF - 7-6-5-16 1T @ 1800MHz (These are the tightest timings we could reach)
