HIS - Hightech Information System Limited is an internationally acclaimed graphics cards company, but that didn't mean they didn't show off more than just video cards at Computex 2007.
It was also interesting to see power supplies in the HIS booth and of the three they had on display the biggest of the bunch was this 1200W beast. It featured a 135mm fan on the bottom and an 80mm fan on the rear to enhance cooling. This would be the first time I have seen 135mm fan used in a power supply application. All the capacitors are Japanese made and the unit does have built-in thermal fan speed control. The four +12V rails offer 110A and an efficiency rating of over 80% according to internal tests.
For those that are curious of the DC Output specifications this picture is for you! The UL number could be made out from this picture, which tells us who made this power supply for HIS. The UL number is E144195, which means this model was built by Sirtec International Co Ltd. Sirtec makes several of the Thermaltake PurePower series of power supplies, so it's not made by a knock off company.
Last, but not least is the HIS iFilter PCIe noise reduction add-in card that was designed for noise absorption. This is a new idea that is supposed to help clean the power rails on the motherboard and improve audio/video performance of a computer system. HIS said that a noise reduction of 20-40mv could be expected, but don't think this card will be cheap as it's just a PCB with some solid-state capacitors on it as the initial pricing is thought to be $79.99.
HIS had one of the world's first dual Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics cards on display that featured basically two standard Radeon 2600 XT cores on it with a bridge chip to keep the data flowing correctly. The card was massive and the heat sink, when fully designed, should also be a sight to see.
The features on the HIS Radeon HD 2600 XT Dual are what one would expect, just double the standard card!
Just to show that HIS doesn't have the only Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card here is a shot of the MSI RX2600 Geminium, which has its cooling solution installed to give you a better idea of what a complete card will look like.
