Hard Disk Performance
HD Tach RW; Version 3.0.1.0
HD Tach will test the sequential read, random access and interface burst speeds of your attached storage device (hard drive, flash drive, removable drive, etc). All drive technologies such as SCSI, IDE/ATA, 1394, USB, SATA and RAID are supported. Test results from HD Tach can be used to confirm manufacturer specs, analyze your system for proper performance, and compare your performance with others. HD Tach is very easy to use, quick, and presents data in easy to read graphs, including the ability to compare two storage devices on screen at the same time for easy analysis.
A Western Digital 500GB SATA hard drive was used to test out the disk performance between the two boards and both the nForce 680i SLI LT and 680i SLI turned in nearly identical scores. The just released 680i SLI LT had an average read speed of 62.2MB/s compared to the 62.3MB/s on the 680i SLI.
The burst speed was also too close to show a significant difference as both drivers was able to reach roughly 185MB/s according to HD Tach. Since both boards are pretty much identical all of the benchmarking should end up like this.
