Mushkin Shows Off 4GB DDR2 Memory Kits and New PSU's

Mushkin was showing off a 4GB PC2-6400 memory kit that was running at 4-3-2 2T timings on an Intel Core 2 Duo demo system. Mushkin is going to be launching 4GB memory kits in upcoming months and informed Legit Reviews that they will be using some great IC's that no one else is currently using. Right now it seems that Nanya IC's are the IC of choice when it comes to 2GB modules, but Mushkin says that they are not the IC's on these modules and that they can get some pretty decent timings.

Running one of their upcoming 4GB memory kits Mushkin was able to run 4-3-2-10 2T timings at 800MHz with 2.2V set in the BIOS. In terms of performance CL4 timings are sure to be better than CL5 timings right?

We installed the trial version of Everest and was able to run a quick read test on the system pictured above.  We were able to his 7.56GB/Sec, which pretty good for a 4GB kit as they have added latency due to the density.

When it comes to power supplies Mushkin showed off their upcoming XP-1000W and XP-850W power supplies that are due out in the next month or two. Both the 850W and 1000W power supplies feature four 20A +12V power rails, so support of dual GPU platforms should be a breeze.

Other than the new 850W and 1000W power supplies Mushkin was showing off the new 8-pin PCIe connectors that are going to be on the new power supplies when the hit the market in a couple months.  While the Thermaltake and Antec power supplies that we have seen had 8-pin connectors they were not 'modular' so to speak. The Mushkin 8-pin PCIe connectors feature a removable pair of pins, which means it can be either a 6-pin or 8-pin connector depending on what your system requires.  Pretty slick and something that other companies don't seem to be doing.
