Conclusion and Final Thoughts
It was a pleaseure working with the PC2-8500 from Buffalo Tech. It is nice to see the speeds and abilities of DDR2 ramping up. With AMD finally crossing over to the DDR2 camp, enthusiast can be hopeful that the technology will take some major leaps now that ram manufaturers like Buffalo can pretty much focus on one type of product (I know, DDR3 is just around the corner...). It will be interesting to see where we go in the next year with DDR2 modules.
This offering from Buffalo is a great product. As I looked around the web, I was not able to find this exact product for sale yet, so pricing is unavailable at this time. If Buffalo follows suit as prices as t hey have their other products, this product will be priced toward the upper end of the market compared to their competition. We will just have to wait and see. The overall performance and overclocking ability of this ram would certainly warrant a higher price.
The Legit Bottom Line
Buffalo Technology brands themselves as "Japan's #1 Module Manufacturer." If the kit we looked at today is representative of their entire product line, it would be hard to argue that branding.
