The Test System

Image Description

If purchase a retail box Intel Conroe or Allendale processor this is how the system is going to look.  The Intel fan does a great job keeping a stock processor cool, but we are going to test both stock and overclocked settings to see how the Aerocool Xfire does.

Here is the Intel Test Platform:

Image Description

A side benefit of using the Aerocool Xfire is that it will blow air across the heatpipe heatsink that ABIT used on the AWD9 Max motherboard and surrounding areas.  The retail boxed Intel heat sink would do the same thing, but the airflow isn't enough to really impact board surface temperatures. The Xfire looks great as the white LED's on the white fan combine for a look that most don't use in case mods.
