OCZ's PC2-8800 Gold Memory - 1.1GHz w/ 5-6-6-15 Timings
It's been some time since Legit Reviews has looked at a memory kit from OCZ Technology and it was a bit ironic that it landed on our door step the day we published our review on the Corsair XMS2 DOMINATOR PC2-8888C4 memory kit. The memory we are looking at today is the 2GB kit of OCZ DDR2 PC2-8800 Gold which comes rated for operation at 1100MHz . These recently released OCZ PC2-8800 Gold Edition modules are optimized for AMD AM2 and Intel Conroe-based platforms and are aimed at giving computer enthusiasts and gamers some serious memory bandwidth for their applications and games.
The PC2-8800 modules utilize the latest OCZ heat spreader design thanks to their use of the gold Xtreme Thermal Convection (XTC) heat spreaders as these modules are part of the gold series. The retail package on the OCZ modules features the usual clear clam shell packaging with the modules screaming buy me sitting inside.
There isn't too much more to say about the modules and the packaging, so let's take the heat spreaders off and see what we have.
