The Tests: Overclocking

Overclocking has always been an avenue that Asus has excelled in, and that I personally have had great success with as an enthusiast.  We first overclocked the board to its highest stock multiplier setting to see how high we could get our 5000+ CPU.  Then, we took the multiplier down to 8 to see how high of an HTT we could get it to.  Our ram was set to 400 in the bios, just to take it out of the equation.  Let's take a look at how we did with the stock multiplier:

As you can see, the Asus reached an HTT of 235 with the stock multiplier.  If you look back at our recent reviews of AM2 boards, you will see that htis is the highest HTT that we have reached, although it is only a 1 higher than what we reached with the MSI board that we looked at.  Let's take a look at the 8x divider results.

We faired much better on the Asus using a CPU divider than we did with the MSI.  The Asus was able to reach a whopping HTT of 362.  Certainly Asus has done a wonderful job with this board in the area of overclocking.  This board has a lot of tweaking options available, which possibly could let us squeeze just a little more out of it, but for a start, and for being right out of the box overclocking, this board does very good for itself!  Ok now, let's wrap this thing up!
