The Tests: Overclocking
Overclocking was certainly an area that we expected the Asus to do well in. Asus has alsways been known as a performance leader when it comes to overclocking, and with such a reputation, we were anxious to get the motor running on this board and see what she could do. And it did not disappoint us at all. Overclocking was very simple on this board, and we immediately found our CPU being able to reach its known limit and even a little higher than we previousley had reached before. One thing I would love to see Asus do that abit does is make overclocking just a little bit nicer by allowing us to power down and then power back up to get the system back, rather than a cmos clear. This is suppose to be a feature on the Asus board as well, but did not work very well, as we had to clear the cmos many times to get the board back up and running. This is a little thing, but it is also time consuming as we try to find the limits of the board.
Ok, so how did the board do?
This is the highest overclock we have gotten with this CPU at it's default multiplier. This board was an absolute screamer at these speeds! This board makes the short list of what to buy for overclocking to the max!
