Introduction

Last fall seems like ages ago that we got our hands on the X850 lineup and while the Platinum Edition offered the best performance money could buy in most of the games you were playing then, it is simply outgunned in today?s blockbuster titles by the likes of the 7800GT and 7800GTX. For those of you holding out for ATI?s next generation, the X1000 line of cards is a welcome sight.
So while it may have taken a while, ATI has been working on all sorts of improvements and advancements. What kind you ask? Have a look....
- Fabbed on 90nm process
- DirectX 9 Shader Model 3.0 support
- New "Ring Bus" memory architecture with support for GDDR4
- High quality angle independent Anisotropic Filtering
- AVIVO and advanced decode/encode support
- Crossfire across the lineup
- Adaptive Anti-Aliasing
Let's take a look under the hood.
