Intel Z77 SATA III 6Gbps Performance
CrystalDiskMark is a small benchmark utility for drives and enables rapid measurement of sequential and random read/write speeds. Note that CDM only supports Native Command Queuing (NCQ) with a queue depth of 32 (as noted) for the last listed benchmark score. This can skew some results in favor of controllers that also do not support NCQ.
The SATA III 6Gbps Testing was done using a Corsair Force GT 240GB Solid State Drive.
Benchmark Results: There isn't a very big difference between the various motherboards in our SATA III 6Gbps testing today. Across all of them we have nearly 5% difference in the sequential read tests. The top dog is the ASUS P8Z68-V Pro while the MSI Z77A-GD65 filled in the bottom of the chart. Falling into the middle is the pair of GIGABYTE Z77 motherboards that are our focus today. The GIGABYTE Z77X-UD3H had an average read of 496.6MB/s with an average write of 308.0MB/s. The GIGABYTE Z77X-UD5H was just behind the UD3H with an average read of 489.3MB/s and an average write of 307.6MB/s.
HD Tune Pro 4.01 is an extended version of HD Tune which includes many new features such as write benchmark, secure erasing, AAM setting, folder usage view, disk monitor, command line parameters and file benchmark.

Benchmark Results: The results in HD Tune 5.00 are a little different than what we saw in CrystalDiskMark above. The GIGABYTE Z77X-UD5H and the Z77X-UD3H were both faster than the ASUS P8Z68-V Pro, though the difference isn't mind blowing. The Z77X-UD3H has the fastest performance of all of the boards with an average read of 382.9MB/s followed by the Z77X-UD5H with 378.7MB/s. The two GIGABYTE boards flip flop positions in the average write speeds, the Z77X-UD5H takes the top spot with an average write of 384.4MB/s while the Z77X-UD3H had an average write of 374.3MB/s.
