Touro Mobile Pro - 750GB

If you pay any attention to hard drive vendors you are aware that the three big names are Seagate, Western Digital, and Hitachi. Hitachi is known for being the first to market with a 3TB enterprise class drive, the Ultrastar 7K3000 back in January 2011 and has many successful hard drive launches prior to that. Lately they have also focused on the external back up market with their Touro line of hard drives.

Hitachi sent us the 750GB version of the updated Touro Mobile Pro external backup drive that provides both local storage and includes 3GB of free cloud storage just by installing their backup software that is pre-installed on the drive itself. The Pro model upgrades the drive speed from the Touro Mobile from 5400 RPM to 7200 RPM and is only offered with a USB 3.0 interface for maximum performance. The benefit of the cloud storage is that you can access your data, photos, movies, or music from anywhere including your smartphone. You can also share your cloud content with other just by sending a web link.

The Touro Mobile Pro comes in two capacities of 500GB (model:HTOLMNA5001BBB) and 750GB (model:HTOLMNA7501BBB) both with a two year warranty. We found the 750GB version of the Hitachi Mobile Pro for $89.99 w/ $3.35 shipping and the 500GB version for $89.95 shipped from B & H Foto & Electronics. With less than a four dollar difference between models the best bang for your buck is clearly the 750GB model as you get 50% more storage space for 3.7% more money.
