ATTO & CystalDiskMark Benchmarks
ATTO is one of the oldest drive benchmarks still being used today and is still very relevant in the SSD world. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the data into graphs that can be very easily interpreted. The test was run with the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes with the total length being 256mb.
ATTO - Intel Z68 Platform
Benchmark Results: Really not much difference between this Momentus XT 750GB drive, the older 500GB XT drive and the non-XT Momentus version of the same capacity. With the exception of the lower file sizes, the scores on the RevoDrive Hybrid and the Kingston HyperX drives rule. No matter how many times we performed this benchmark, the scores were always more or less the same so the SSD is playing little if any role in aiding performance and frankly we expected this since the usage does not trigger the caching of data. Regardless, it paces well with the 10,000 RPM VelociRaptor though.
CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 - Intel Z68 Platform
CrystalDiskMark is a small benchmark utility for drives and enables rapid measurement of sequential and random read/write speeds. Note that CDM only supports Native Command Queuing (NCQ) with a queue depth of 32 (as noted) for the last listed benchmark score. This can skew some results in favor of controllers that also do not support NCQ.
Benchmark Results: Again, little variation in the both XT's and the non-SSD enhanced 750GB counterpart with subsequent runs of the benchmark yielding no significant variance. Paced slightly behind the VelociRaptor for the most part and not even in the same league as the RevoDrive Hybrid and the Kingston SSD. Same as above, the SSD portion of the drive really offers no assistance.
