After pulling the glasses out of the box and putting them on, the first thing I noticed was a change in the visual brightness and the sharpness of my computer screen.  This is due to the AMBeR lens tint which works to increase the contrast and decrease the brightness by shifting light to a warmer part of the spectrum.  This shift relaxes the eyes and reduces the strain of trying to focus on the screen.  So for example, while writing this article, the page in my word processor looked white with a bluish tinge.  My eyes had a hard time focusing on all the words because of the amount of light which was entering my eyes.  After putting the glasses on, the color shifted from a bluish tinge to a brownish tinge which relaxed my eyes and allowed them to focus more clearly on the whole page.  The clarity of the words also became more focused, which is due to the NEOscopic lens which is designed with a slight magnification to provide a more enhanced visual experience.  This was easily noticeable by lifting the glasses up and down while starring at the computer screen.

The other thing that I noticed was that the Scope gaming glasses are really lightweight.  I wear a pair of glasses at work that have a slight prescription which helps keep me from getting headaches while working on computers all day.  I thought my glasses were light, but these are even lighter.  Many times, during the two week trial I would walk downstairs to get some water or something to eat and had forgotten that I was even wearing the Scope gaming glasses.

I normally don’t wear my normal glasses with my headset because I get hot spots against my head and ears.  One thing I had to try is how the Scope gaming glasses fit with my headset.  Luckily, I didn’t have the hot spots against my head and ears with these glasses.  As you can see from the picture above, these frames don’t have temples, the part that wraps around your ear, so they fit well with my headset.

As I mentioned earlier, I have been using the glasses for a little over two weeks while playing Starcraft II and World of Warcraft.  I can honestly say that my overall experience using the SteelSeries Scope pro gaming glasses has been really positive.  My eyes are more relaxed and less fatigued while playing these games.  I used to play Starcraft II for about 2-3 hours a night and go to bed with sore eyes and sometimes headaches.  Since I have been wearing the Scope gaming glasses, I can play longer and have not had a single headache which is a great feeling.  The longest gaming session I played was about 6½ hours before I started to feel tired.  That, in my opinion, makes these glasses worth the money right there. No wonder these are the glasses of choice for Evil Geniuses.

The only bad thing I can say about these glasses is that I wish they came with a better protective case.  The protective bag is great for cleaning the glasses and keeping them from getting scratched, but I would really like something that is a little more durable and can withstand being dropped. After all these glasses cost about a $100 and are really an investment.  I would really like to start using these glasses at work, but I’m afraid I might damage the glasses during the travel to work and back.  My plan is to buy a generic glass case at Walmart, so that I can start toting the glasses back and forth to work.

SteelSeries has a great warranty too.  If you don't want to take my word on how well these glasses work, you can buy yours from an authorized SteelSeries/Gunnar dealership and use them for thirty days.  If you don't notice a difference in eye strain or comfort, you can send them back for a full refund.


Legit Bottom Line: The Scope Pro Gaming glasses help reduce eye strain, eye fatigue and improve gaming performance for about $100 and in my opinion are worth every penny.
