Test Setup
To test out the new Intel Core i7-2820QM processor we have a Compal notebook that is designed off the Intel reference board. You can check out the specifications below.

For testing this new Sandy Bridge mobile platform it makes sense to compare it to last year's Arrandale notebook platform and to the two-year-old Montevina notebook platform. This will show performance increases over a 2-year time period as most of our readers upgrade every 1-2 years. Our legacy platforms are the ASUS K42F notebook with an Intel Core i5 540M processor (above right) and an HP Pavilion DV4-1555dx with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 processor (above left). Both notebooks feature the same CPU clock speed rated at 2.53GHz.

Let's get on to the benchmarking!!!
