GlacialTech Alaska CPU Cooler

GlacialTech has been around a relatively short time. Established in 2001 they make a range of fans and coolers. Most of the coolers I have seen from GlacialTech have been aimed at the budget side of the cooling scale, but performed nicely for their price. The newest offering from GlacialTech looks promising. The Igloo Alaska CPU cooler is a tower cooler that will work with all the Intel LGA sockets as well as AMD AM2 and AM3 sockets.

The Alaska has an interesting looking hexagonal honeycomb fin arrangement. GlacialTech says the design reduces wind resistance and noise. The fins also have holes in them that give the Alaska what GlacialTech is calling a “breathing effect”. The fin arrangement, along with the holes, allows the air to leave the cooler from pretty much all sides. It will be interesting to see how well this performs.

The Alaska comes with a single PWM 120mm fan that operates between 700 and 1600 RPM. The fan is capable of pushing 55.7CFM at 30dBA when running at 100%.
