Quakecon Case Mods and Interesting Designs
Quakecon has always been a show that I love attending as there are
always awesome case mods there. We took nearly a thousand pictures at Quakecon 2010 during our three days at the event, but we narrowed it down to just under 100 that made the final cut of interesting case mods that are worth taking a closer look at. The BYOC area of Quakecon 2010 was a little different this year from those that we have been to in years past. It seems like the case mods were a little less extreme this year and it also appeared that there were less PC cases there in general. A good 10-15% of the BYOC looked to be made up of laptops this year and that was rather interesting as this is the most laptops that we have ever seen at a Quakecon! We still managed to find dozens of sweet looking gaming systems that were more than photo worthy, so let's get started!
Being in a room with thousands of BYOC gamers is a blast and when you entered the BYOC this is one of the first signs that greeted you.
This case looked very clean and used very nicely braided cables for all the electrical wires and used a color scheme that you don't see every day.
With the flash on our camera turned off the case also looked great.
Here we can see a Lian Li XB01 Microsoft Xbox 360 replacement case that featured a full water cooling loop and a couple digital temperature displays to keep tabs on how your system was doing.
Cases like this can really make your console stand out from the rest!
We saw this case last year and it appears the owner has continued to modify his design and perfect his creation.
Some new acrylic panels are on the system and it looks like some logos have been etched into the side panel for branding and advertising purposes. I see a Kingston HyperX Fan inside though and no Kingston logo, so who knows if all the logos match up to the current hardware inside the system.
Without the flash the case takes on a whole new look, but not in a bad way.
