Overclocking

Overclocking is always a fun task with our little Triple Core Phenom CPU. This board made it even more enjoyable by the ease of use as we tried to squeeze every ounce of power we could get out of this board. As per the norm, we started out by overclocking using the default multiplier for the CPU and just ramped up the bus speed as high as we could go. Take a look and see what we got:

Yup! That is right! Basically a 1GHz overclock on our little Phenom! A bus speed of 271MHz is not too bad at all. In fact, this is a great overclock on a board that cost hundreds less that the top enthusiast boards today!
Next, we set out to lower the CPU multiplier and push the bus speed as far up as we could go.

After reaching the speeds we did at the default multiplier setting, we had hoped to reach some really outstanding bus speeds with the divider lowered. And though we were a little disappointed, it is really hard to get to down about getting all the way up to 290MHz. This is a great overclocking machine!
