Final Thoughts and Conclusion

AMD Athlon II X2 260

The AMD Athlon II X2 260 isn't going to break any world records when it comes to performance. For a $76.00 processor you can't expect it to. With that being said, it performs admirably. In all of the benchmarks performed today it performed at it's best when running lightly threaded applications.

As well as the AMD Athlon II X2 260 performed, dual core technology is becoming dated. More and more applications are now supporting more than two processors. Though not everything does. The results from Cinebench R11.5 are a prime example.

Cinebench R11.5 Benchmark Results

When running the single core benchmark the AMD Athlon II X2 260 (P/N ADX2600CK23GM) is the top dog in the AMD pack. When you enable the multi-core benchmark the AMD Athlon II X2 260 loses the top spot and falls to the back. It's going to depend on what types of applications you plan to run on your computer. If you are planning on lightly threaded applications the AMD Athlon II X2 260 is going to be a great choice for you. If you need a little more power for applications that will take advantage of a quad-core processor you may want to take a look at the Athlon II X4 640 that Legit Reviews tested.

The AMD Athlon II X2 260 is a processor that is going to be a great addition to the very budget friendly AMD Athlon II series. I didn't have any problems running all of the synthetic benchmarks and all of the games were smooth and playable at the highest settings.
