ASUS G73Jh

ASUS has once again produced a solid mobile system with the G73Jh. With the size and weight of a gaming notebook with a 17.3" screen, solid construction is a must in order for the consumer to feel confident their investment is going to last. ASUS has constantly excelled in this arena and the G73Jh is no exception.

We are very impressed with the price versus performance of the ASUS G73Jh. For $1599 at the time of writing, you get a top-of-the-line ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 GPU, an Intel Core i7 720QM CPU and a 17.3" Full HD 1920x1080 resolution display for on-the-go gaming. Paired with a Blu-Ray combo drive, 8GB RAM and large storage, not only is this a gaming notebook, but it is a video transcoding power house, especially when using applications that utilize ATI's Stream technology to do the encoding. While this Republic of Gamers notebook did not come with a carrying case or the Eee Stick, we feel excluding those items is probably when helped keep the price point identical to that of the G51Vx which came in a 15" screen package.

When it came to gaming performance, the G73Jh was king of the hill with all the bragging rights the ATI Radeon HD 5870 mobile GPU has to offer. While some of the synthetic gaming benchmarks did not seems to show the margin we saw in real games, there is no doubt that the Radeon 5870 is czar of gaming. This is as expected and we are happy to see the mobile version of the Radeon 5870 GPU is living up to it's desktop brother's reputation.

ASUS G73Jh Backlit Keyboard

Overall, our time with the ASUS G73Jh was up to our standards and ASUS has once again proved itself a force to be reckoned with in the mobile gaming market. ASUS continues to raise the bar with the little things that set their products apart, like a backlit keyboard and an affordable model with a flagship GPU! Add to that the new matte-black, stealth design and you have a combination deserving of the LR Innovation Award!

Legit Reviews Innovation Award

Legit Bottom Line: The ASUS G73Jh Gaming Notebook is perfect for the gamer that likes to travel to the local LAN party, but doesn't want to mess with the hassle of transporting and setting up a desktop gaming rig. The inclusion of the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 GPU in the G73Jh brings top of the line performance at an affordable price with a great design worthy of our Innovation Award!
