Power Consumption

Since power consumption is a big deal these days, we ran some simple power consumption tests on our test beds. To measure idle usage, we ran the system at idle for one hour on the desktop with no screen saver and took the measurement. For load measurements, Cinebench R1.5 was run on all cores to make sure each and every processor was at 100% load.

Power Consumption Results

Results: The Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H won the performance race by just a smidgen in the tests we ran on it, but when we looked at power consumption we found that it uses more power than the ASUS M4A89GTD Pro/USB3 motherboard for some reason. How much more? About 13W more at load, which is an increase of 8%.
