A-DATA 8GB Nobility S805
A-DATA is one of the world's largest providers of memory and flash products and have been in the marketplace since mid 2001. They offer several lines of USB flash drives and today we are going to have a look at the 8GB S805 model from their Nobility line which can be found online for a mere $23 shipped. At first glance it looks more like a mountain climbing tool than a flash drive but looks can be deceiving.
Offered in both grey and red finishes, each wrapped in a reflective zinc alloy frame, the A-DATA Nobility S805 is a very attractive looking device. Its heft, at 25g (.88oz), is substantial for its size and certainly gives the perception that this is a well constructed and rugged piece of hardware. It comes packaged with nothing other than a warranty information brochure and is available in capacities ranging from 4GB to 16GB.
Before we get deeper, let's take a look at A-DATA's published features and requirements.

Externally, the two biggest features are very handy and certainly make toting it around much more worry free. The first is the carabiner style clip that's built in so it clips easily onto just about anything. You can count on it staying secure since you aren't relying on tiny cords or clasps that don't stand up to much abuse. The second feature is the flip out USB plug that extends out 180 degrees when fully pivoted. This works very smoothly, stays in place when closed, and can be handy when in tight quarters because you can still plug it in even with it not full opened. The best part is - no lost caps (collective cheer)!
The main body of the S805 doesn't actually house any of the electronic components. Every bit of that lies within the swivel USB plug piece itself, so the frame only acts a vehicle and guard for the actual drive. Now that introductions are out of the way, let's take a gander at the performance metrics.
