HyperX Water Cooled Memory
Kingston also showed off some prototype product ideas that they have for their HyperX memory modules series that is worth taking a quick look at. Kingston has never gotten into water cooling, but it looks like that is about to change as they have developed a water cooling ready heat spreader that will be available in Q1 for an unknown price.
Kingston said the design will be changed from what you see in the images above, so we won't talk much about them since the design has changed. Kingston will follow in the foot steps of other memory companies like Corsair and OCZ who have had water cooled memory kits available for some time now. Kingston is clearly ready to play ball when it comes to high end memory and that is a great sign that Kingston is still heavily involved in the enthusiasts gaming memory market.
We also spotted numerous heat spreaders that ranged in color from silver to pink on a table at the event. Kingston informed Legit Reviews that these are just prototypes to show off that they can do different colored heat spreaders and in the future and they might do a poll to see what consumers want in the market place. Basically, different colored HyperX heat spreaders might be coming out in the future via a limited edition release.
On the storage front, Kingston Technology showed off their new 30GB Boot Drive SSD at CES and we recorded it for you to see. This is the drive that is replacing the 40GB Boot Drive that was available for only a limited time without TRIM support. The Kingston SSDNow V Series 30GB Boot Drive ships with TRIM support for Windows 7 and will be promotionally priced at $79.99 after rebates (U.S. only) when the product launches in February. This is an agressive price point for a Toshiba controller powered SSD.
It looks like in 2010 Kingston will have new design features and products to keep enthusiasts satisfied!
