CES 2010: SilverStone Mini-ITX Sugo SG07 Prototype Chassis

On display at the SilverStone booth at CES was an array of their latest offerings being showcased for the attendees. One item of particular interest was their prototype mini-ITX chassis Sugo SG07. Why the interest? Take a look at the video Legit Reviews took of Silverstone Product Manager Tony Ou providng a product overview and you'll see that they have managed to fit the 12.2" (309mm) ATI Radeon 5970 card and a custom, single-rail 600w power supply into the tiny chassis measuring a mere 222mm(w) x 190mm(H) x 350mm(D).

The sliding air duct on the side will allow adjustments to align to the fans of smaller cards for cold air intake. On top, the 180mm fan should run very quiet as compared to 120mm fans at the same CFM level and is also equipped with a removable dust filter for easy cleaning. The custom 600w PSU is front mounted and there is ample room around and above the processor to fit a decent cooler to keep heat to a minimum.

The GPU area is also designed in such a way to channel the hot air out and not into the rest of the case. The case itself is listed as aluminum skin over a plastic front bezel with an SECC body. For those with portability in mind, it looks like you'll have to rely on an external harness/handle system as the case is not designed with an integrated handle. On the bottom there are more ventilation areas as well as rubber feet to keep the unit elevated to facilitate ambient air flow.

As displayed at CES, the chassis contained the following components:

  • Intel Core i7 860
  • SilverStone custom 600W PSU
  • DFI Lanparty MI P55-T36
  • A-DATA XPG Plus Series DDR3-1600+ 2G x2
  • ATI Radeon HD 5970
  • SilverStone TOB02 Slim Blu-Ray drive

We don't have a sample in our hands yet but it is expected that the retail price will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 and an expectation to be available "soon".

UPDATE: Tony was kind enough to send us some more pictures for your viewing pleasure. Please keep in mind that this is a prototype so the finished product may differ slightly.
