Callpod Chargepod Value Pack
The holiday shopping season is well under way and today Legit Reviews will be looking at the Callpod Chargepod Value Pack, which just might be the perfect $39 stocking stuffer for your tech savvy loved one. The Callpod Chargepod is a 6-way charging device that allows you to charge multiple cell phones, PDAs, headsets, and most other mobile electronics with just a single power cord. Once you buy the charger you can pick out the manufacturer-specific adapters for your devices and throw away the half dozen power cords that are cluttering your office and home. By using various adapters and voltage regulator technology the Chargepod safely charges all of your mobile devices regardless of manufacturer or model. The downside to the $39.99 Callpod Chargepod Value Pack is it only comes with one Mini-USB device adapter and a coupon for another. This means you have to purchase the other adapters you need and they run $9.95 each, which adds up if you need to buy a dozen of them. Since most people only have about five or six devices this shouldn't be a deal breaker, but an added expense that needs to be pointed out right away.
The Callpod Chargepod Value Pack comes in a nice looking retail box that clearly shows the package contents and the basic features of the charger. The box also states the Chargepod is covered by a limited warranty for 1 year against defective workmanship.
Inside the retail box you will find the base station that is required for connecting devices
to charge and the AC power supply, carrying pouch, one Mini-USB device adapter, voucher for FREE device adapter, carrying pouch, registration reminder card and the user's manual. So, if you happen to have a BlackBerry Bold like we do then you can use the Callpod Chargepod straight away. If you have more devices, which you should if you buy this, then you need to order in more adapters.
Callpod said they have the ability to charge over 3,000 different devices with the Chargepod and have an entire web page dedicated to just adapters. We ordered in some common ones with the Chargepod, but keep in mind the Value Pack comes with a coupon code for a free one that even includes free shipping. Callpod offers a Bundle Pack that comes pre-packaged with 6 of their most popular adapters and a car charger for $79.95 that might make life a little easier if you happen to have a use for those six adapters.
Callpod also has a car charger cable for the Chargepod, which is great for all those road warriors out there.
When you plug an adapter into the base station, blue indicator lights illuminate on each port to show that the cable is plugged in and that it should be charging. In the photo above we were using the Chargepod to charge the batteries on our Apple iPhone 3GS, Blackberry Bold, Microsoft Zune HD and of course a Motorola Bluetooth headset.
Final Thoughts and Conclusions:
The Chargepod worked like a charm and reduced all of the cables we had around the office down to just one. The only downside to the Chargepod would be price, but when you think about it most families have thousands of dollars worth of electronics. Spending $39.99 on the Callpod Chargepod Value Pack and then $9.95 for extra cables isn't really that big of a price to pay for the convenience that offers. Not only that, but it might also reduce the chances of you getting hurt from tripping over all those charger cables you have in your house.
