AS SSD Benchmark

A new benchmark is in the works for Solid State Drives - AS SSD Benchmark. We have run this benchmark for several months now and found that it is a great SSD benchmark that shows 4K read and write speeds that so many of our readers want to know about.

With Intel Firmware 02G9:

With Intel Firmware 02HA Before Ever Running TRIM:

With Intel Firmware 02HA After Running TRIM:

AS SSD Benchmark Results

Benchmark Results:  With firmware version 02HA installed on the Intel X-25M 160GB Gen 2 SSD the drive was significantly faster in all of the write tests. The sequential write test improved by 42% from where we started, which is insane as that is a 30MB/s improvement with just a firmware update and running TRIM! The 4K random write performance was up by 19% and the 4K-64 Thrd random writes were up by an insane 80%!

Copy-Benchmark Tests With Intel Firmware 02G9:

Copy-Benchmark Tests With Intel Firmware 02HA After Running TRIM:

Copy Benchmark Results: The Copy-Benchmark test shows that the new firmware greatly improves the drive's performance when doing these types of tasks.  The ISO test was slower after running the TRIM command, which is a little strange.
