SiSoftware Sandra 2009 SP3
SiSoftware Sandra (the System ANalyser, Diagnostic and Reporting Assistant) is an information & diagnostic utility. Sandra provides most of the information (including undocumented) you need to know about your hardware, software and other devices whether hardware or software. In order to test the hard drive, SiSoftware Sandra 2009 SP3 was used as part of the test suite. The graphical results that Sandra gives you after the test is completed nicely shows how drives perform over time and where on the drive the performance is seen.

Benchmark Results: Sandra shows that the WD Caviar Black 2TB Hard Drive is significantly faster in both the read and write tests when it comes to data throughput and random access times. How much faster? The Black series drive is 39% faster in the read test and 41% faster in the write test. Sandra showed that the WD Caviar Black could transfer roughly 30 MB/s more data than the WD Caviar Green series drive. The random access time difference was also amazing as in the read test it was seen at 18ms on the Green 2TB drive and 6ms on the Black 2TB drive.
