Battery Life

Battery Life

To test the battery life, we let the computer sit at idle with no screensaver and measured the amount of time it took for it to go into standby mode. In order to get an idea of how long the battery would last under a work load, we played a movie in the same fashion. The results are shown in the graph below.

Battery Life Graph

As you can see from the graph, the MSI X340's 4 cell battery life fared very well compared to the other netbooks and notebook tested.  At idle, it lasted approximately 4 hours, and it went a full 2.5 hours while playing a movie!  While we expected it to have a longer battery life than the high performance ASUS N81Vp-C1 gaming notebook, we did not expect it to beat out the MSI Wind U100 nor the ASUS N10Jc-A1, even with the NVIDIA GeForce 9200 GS card enabled.  One of the benefits of a netbook is that it consumes less power, therefore having a longer battery life.  Without running benchmarks yet, we are already impressed that the size and light weight of the MSI X340 Slim combined with the long battery life can compete with the popular netbooks.
