Did you know that the new Intel Sandy Bridge-E-based Core i7 processors do not come with a cooling solution of any sort? Instead, Intel is now selling a closed-loop water cooler and cost-optimized heat sink/fan combination separately, allowing enthusiasts to pick between two options from Intel or a host of other third-party products. Today we will be looking over the new Intel RTS2011LC water cooler and seeing how does against a high-end air cooler on the new Intel Core i7-3960X CPU.
Are your NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 or GTX 570 running hot and loud? Overclocking potential limited? Koolance, a company well known for water cooling, has the answer with a full coverage water block that is just dead sexy. Legit drops this on one of our recently reviewed GTX 570’s and sticks it into one of our under water systems to see if it performs as good as it looks.
Back in 2006, Zaward implemented a patent for dimpled surfaces on the impeller of a cooling fan, and followed up with the release of their Generation 1 Golf Fans to the market. The distinctive shape of the GOLF FAN has become a trademark of Zaward products and has been reused by companies like Sharkoon & Rosewill with cooling fans, heatsinks, and power supplies. Today we get to look at the brand new Generation 3 Golf fans from Sharkoon and test their performance for ourselves!
Today we are looking at a new offering from a company you might not have heard of before, Phanteks. There has been some buzz about their first HSF offering, the PH-TC14PE. It is a twin tower twin 140mm fan CPU air cooler. Join us as we see how well the Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU cooler handles our Intel Core i7-930 test system and if its worth of the buzz that brought it to our attention.
When AMD launched the Zambezi-FX processors this week based off ‘Bulldozer’ core architecture the realized that these 8-core 32nm processors might need enhanced cooling. To solve this situation, AMD decided that with the FX Series CPU’s they would have an option for a retail boxed processor that includes a self contained water cooler rather than the typical air cooler. This is the first time AMD has ventured into offering a water cooling kit for the public and we have it on the test bench!
Today we are looking at the newest addition to the Corsair Hydro Series, the Hydro Series H100. The Corsair H100 offers the best performance of any liquid cooling kit offered by Corsair since it uses a dual 120mm radiator! Since it is a bit larger than normal kits you will need to use it in PC cases that provide mounting capability for a standard 240mm radiator. Join us as we put the new Hydro Series H100 through the paces on our Intel Core i7 test system.
NZXT is a rather new contender to the cooling market, with just in the past year’s time releasing both a new fan series and a new CPU cooler. Today I’ve had a chance to look at and extensively use their new FX-120LB, FX-140LB & FS-200LB-RLED fans. We’ll find out if NZXT has what it takes to contend in the cooling market, what they have done in the case market and find out if these fans are really worth your buck.
Today we are looking at the EVERCOOL Transformer 3 HDT CPU Cooler. The Transformer 3 is EVERCOOL’s newest budget offering released earlier this year. Transformer 3 is equipped with a 12cm silent PWM fan, special designed cooling fins and three U-shape heat pipes with H.D.T Tech to help provide excellent cooling performance. Join us to see how well the EVERCOOL Transformer 3 does on our Intel Core i7-930 test system.
While walking around the technology showcase at the Intel Developer Forum we ran across a booth in the future technologies lab that caught our attention as it was a CPU cooling demo that showed a passive cooling design and we are suckers for silent computing. We had to take a closer look and what we saw was different. Read on to take a look at a passive CPU cooler on an Intel Core i5-2500T processor and see how it performs!
Today we are looking at the newest CPU cooler offering from Enermax, the ETS-T40. The new EST-T40 line from Enermax has a new patented fin design that Enermax says gets the ETS-T40’s thermal resistance down to 0.09*C/W. So join us as we look at the ETS-T40 and put it through the paces on our Intel Core i7-930 test system and see how it does against several other CPU cooling solutions!
Today we are looking at the GELID Rev. 2 Tranquillo Silent CPU tower cooler. The Rev. 2 Tranquillo is an updated version of the Tranquillo. The new Rev. 2 features a new updated mounting system, base, and heatpipe arrangement. Join us as we see how well it performs on our Intel Core i7-930 test system at both stock and overclocking settings.
Today we are looking at newest addition to the Corsair Hydro Series, the H80. The H80 water cooler includes a double-thick 120mm radiator and should be compatible with virtually any standard ATX PC case. Join us as we check out the updates Corsair has made as we put the new Hydro Series H80 through the paces on our Intel Core i7-930 powered test system.
Today we are looking at the newest version of the True Spirit from Thermalright. The Thermalright True Spirit has four 6mm heatpipes and 48 aluminum fins to help keep your processor nice and cool. Join us as we put the updated cooler to the test on our Intel Core i7-930 test system and see how it stacks up against some of the best coolers we have tested.
