Power Consumption

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Founders Edition

For testing power consumption, we took our test system and plugged it into a Kill-A-Watt power meter. For idle numbers, we allowed the system to idle on the desktop for 15 minutes and took the reading. For load numbers we ran Battlefield 4 at 3840×2160 and recorded the average idle reading and the peak gaming reading on the power meter.

Power Consumption Results: The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 in our test system used 98 Watts at idle and 281 Watts at peak 4K gaming. It should be noted that when we played the same spot over at a lower resolution the power consumption jumped up at times to right around 310 Watts, so the display resolution you game at or test at will greatly alter the power numbers. Keep this in mind if you are reading a number of different reviews this week!

Just got 18,300 score on firestrike with a zotac 1070 amp extreme running stock clocks, the card boosts to 2038mhz out of the box gonna push the overclock to the max today but im betting it will be one the best overclocking 1070’s especially since it only hit 54c max in firestrike. The only downside is it wont fit into a lot of cases hell i thought my cm storm stryker was a big case and it was a tight fit up against my hd’s and ssd’s cables. But it been great so far love the way it looks and the lighting and even when im gaming its very silent, cant hear it over my case fans.

Can’t wait to see 1070 sli benchmarks against the same cards, some day.

Already asked for another for SLI testing… Crossing my fingers.

For Ashes of the Singularity test, did you have async enabled for the DX12 test? Given Nvidia still doesn’t have hardware based async and is relying of software tricks to match the hardware edge AMD has with it’s GCN architecture that’s an important distinction to note and expand on

I selected ‘high’ image quality settings and ran the test. Using v1.1, which has the GPU or CPU focused benchmark option.

Thx for Temperature & Noise Testing since that is one single information I still needed to know! Definitely waiting for 0db version or AIO water block…

EVGA and others will certainly have a water cooled version and EKWB will more than likely have blocks soon.

    Yay !!!
The idea to compare 1070 with older cards is nice.
I’m using gtx570 (heavily overclocked) and it was mostly doing the job at 1920×1200.
I was only tempted to upgrade to 900 series since i couldn’t see enough value to upgrade to 670 or 770, but then it was not using smaller process.
    So here we are.
