SteamVR Performance Test

steamvr benchmark

The SteamVR Performance Test measures your system’s rendering power using a 2-minute sequence from Valves Aperture Robot Repair VR demo. After collecting the data it determines whether your system is capable of running VR content at 90fps and whether VR content can tune the visual fidelity up to the recommended level. For machines that are not VR Ready the tool can help determine whether capabilities are bound by Graphics Card, CPU, or both.

steamvr benchmark results

Benchmark Results: Both the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 and GeForce GTX 1070 score 11 (very high) on the SteamVR Performance test and have 100% of the frames above 90 FPS. The AMD Radeon R9 Fury X with Radeon Crimson Edition 16.5.3 Hotfix drivers scored 9.6 (very high). If you look closer at the total number of frames tested you can see the total number of frames tested and that is representative of the power of each card. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 rendered nearly 36% more frames than the Radeon R9 Fury X, but even the Fury X had all frames tested being above 90 FPS.

Just got 18,300 score on firestrike with a zotac 1070 amp extreme running stock clocks, the card boosts to 2038mhz out of the box gonna push the overclock to the max today but im betting it will be one the best overclocking 1070’s especially since it only hit 54c max in firestrike. The only downside is it wont fit into a lot of cases hell i thought my cm storm stryker was a big case and it was a tight fit up against my hd’s and ssd’s cables. But it been great so far love the way it looks and the lighting and even when im gaming its very silent, cant hear it over my case fans.

Can’t wait to see 1070 sli benchmarks against the same cards, some day.

Already asked for another for SLI testing… Crossing my fingers.

For Ashes of the Singularity test, did you have async enabled for the DX12 test? Given Nvidia still doesn’t have hardware based async and is relying of software tricks to match the hardware edge AMD has with it’s GCN architecture that’s an important distinction to note and expand on

I selected ‘high’ image quality settings and ran the test. Using v1.1, which has the GPU or CPU focused benchmark option.

Thx for Temperature & Noise Testing since that is one single information I still needed to know! Definitely waiting for 0db version or AIO water block…

EVGA and others will certainly have a water cooled version and EKWB will more than likely have blocks soon.

    Yay !!!
The idea to compare 1070 with older cards is nice.
I’m using gtx570 (heavily overclocked) and it was mostly doing the job at 1920×1200.
I was only tempted to upgrade to 900 series since i couldn’t see enough value to upgrade to 670 or 770, but then it was not using smaller process.
    So here we are.
