Final Thoughts and Conclusions

The AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT was designed for 1080P gaming and after testing the card on a number of game titles and synthetic benchmarks we can conclude that is very much the target audience for this card. Those that are playing on a 1440P display will want to move up to the Radeon RX 5700 series cards for the best gaming experience.

We were very shocked to get the base Radeon RX 5500 XT with just 4GB of memory from AMD, when they showed how much better the 8GB card did. They were getting on average about 10% better performance on the 8GB card over the 4GB at higher image quality settings (AMD’s internal testing results can be seen above). If you like to crank things up in the game you might want to move up from the 4GB card at $169 to the 8GB card at $199 to keep things running smooth.

If you dig a little deeper and look at the dollar per FPS ‘value’ of most mainstream graphics cards the Radeon RX 5500 XT comes in with the best game for the buck with the settings we tested at.

Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 5500 XT

The Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB card that we were sent to review worked flawlessly. We have absolutely no concerns with this model and would recommend it. It runs cool, quite and should be visually appealing to most people.

Right now there is also a game bundle available with the purchase of the AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT where you get Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition plus 3 months of Xbox Game Pass for PC. The Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition includes both the base game and the Iceborne expansion pack, which introduces the Master Rank and more than 20 new monsters and modified versions of existing monsters. This is a solid game bundle for a graphics card series that starts at $169 and is most certainly a value adder.

At the end of the day the AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT looks to be a good choice for 1080P gamers on a budget. You will end up with a card powered by the latest 7nm RDNA architecture and the new AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition drivers are fun to try out.

Legit Bottom Line: The AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT is aimed at 1080P gamers looking for the latest features on a budget of under $200.
