For testing power consumption, we took our test system and plugged it into a Kill-A-Watt power meter. For idle numbers, we allowed the system to idle on the desktop for 15 minutes and took the reading. For load numbers we ran three games at 1920×1080 and averaged the peak results seen on the power meter.
Power Consumption Results: The AMD Radeon R7 260 was very power efficient and our entire test system at the wall was observed at 98 Watts at idle and then hit a maximum of 260 Watts when gaming. AMD said that the typical board power of the AMD Radeon R7 260 would be about 15 Watts less than the AMD Radeon R7 260X and our testing showed that it was 12 Watts less!
