Game Load Time Testing
To test game load times we used the benchmark for the game title Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers that was released in July 2019. We bumped up the resolution from 1080P to 1440P, but other than that we left all the settings at their stock values. Pretty much every SSD on the market today claims to be aimed at gamers, so this test shows you how the drives we tested perform on an actual game title in a series that every gamer has heard of.
Benchmark Results: The Kingston KC2500 does excellent on game load times and finishes 4th in this very important benchmark with a final load time of under 12.5 seconds on our 1440P gaming test! SMI SM2262EN powered drives do great on this game load time benchmark and this appears to be one of the best ‘gaming’ drives on the market today. That said, this is just one game title and the Final Fantasy is the only game series that includes level load times in their benchmark results. We really hope that more game benchmarks come out with results that show load times as we’d love to expand our testing in this area.
