3Dmark Fire Strike Benchmark Results – For high performance gaming PCs

Use Fire Strike to test the performance of dedicated gaming PCs, or use the Fire Strike Extreme preset for high-end systems with multiple GPUs. Fire Strike uses a multi-threaded DirectX 11 engine to test DirectX 11 hardware.

Benchmark Results: The three GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB cards all turned in scores of just over 6,700 and it just goes to show how close they are to one another.

  • I just came across this article since i want to upgrade my Nvidia GT 740 .. im not wanting or ( the wife) doesnt want me spending a ton i was thinking the gtx 1050 ti.. but i keep hearing everyone say budget card.. would it be a bump to my gt 740 ? i mainly play Wow,Gta5 and FSX on Steam..THanks !

The versions that don’t require additional power are best for mass produced boxes that might have a PCIe x16 slot, but a low wattage power supply without any 6 or 8 pin PCIe connectors. The 1050 Ti produces playable gaming on such systems and there are a lot of them out there. I predict nVidia and partners will sell a LOT of these. It may even become the next GF4MX, which sold so many units (mostly included with mass market boxes like Dell, Compaq and HP) that game developers were still including a DX7 rendering option in games well into the DX9 era in some cases.

I suppose these Ti’s are a option for those just looking to start play in 1080p gaming, kind of what GT240’s or AMD 4670 use to be for the entry 1680×1050, but really more pricy. I just see if you’re on say 650Ti, 660, 750Ti and you want to get a great bump these for $140 aren’t. By these B-M they indicate at most 15% cost adder to $140-150 is the better move if you are striving to be more than casual user.

“there is an overclocking ‘bug’ that NVIDIA is currently working on fixing with the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti video card lineup.”

Thought this was a premeditated BIOS cap for 1050’s. Do you have a link from Nvidia showing otherwise?

    • legitreviews

Agent1, NVIDIA has told us there is a bug in multiple e-mails from multiple people. They told us they are looking into a driver fix. If you’d like ‘proof’ I can ask them for an official statement or if I can screen shot the e-mail between NPR and LR.

      • Agent1

Proof!, I’m not calling anyone out here, just looking for explanation.

One site quotes a driver bug but even drivers pre 1050 support exhibit the same cap if simply “inf” modified. Now it could be they are possibly using the driver to override BIOS default behavior.

I do hope that a fix comes for all those that like to get the most from their purchases and comes soon for perspective buyers.

“Overclocking bug” means they don’t want you to ramp these things up to 1800mhz, like many people are already doing so they are going to BIOS lock or driver lock the clocks in a future update, I’m sure. Some are even managing to boost them over 1900mhz in short bursts without exotic cooling but between 1800 and 1900 is about where most people are with them.

Must admit I was skeptical of nVidia fixing it, perhaps the likes of LegitReviews had some bearing on the matter.

Without modifications perhaps we shouldn’t expect anything earth shattering GPU clock wise but memory clock seems to have a nice gain, just need to be careful the memory chips are getting cooled enough.

It’s pretty clear that the EVGA card is the best. It has the highest stock frequency, the lowest noise production and one of the lowest power consumption readings. I’m not sure how you missed this as the reviewer, but it’s obvious from the stats.

    • Nathan Kirsch

The performance and power consumption wasn’t significantly different, noise was a wash and the EVGA card cost the most. You can’t tell a difference between the EVGA card and the other two, so that is why the EVGA card wasn’t called the best. I wouldn’t pay more for one of these three cards over the other as the difference is basically nothing. Overclocking right now had all the cards topping out at the same clock speeds, so even that didn’t show a difference. It just goes to show how close all these cards are becoming on the low-end.

When it comes to factory OC cards, Zotac makes the fastest factory OC 1050 Ti I have seen so far. eVGA fastest OC=1379/1493. Zotac fastest OC=1392/1506 and the ZOTAC does not require additional power to do it. The fastest eVGA requires a 6-pin. I was going to buy the eVGA until I heard about the Zotac card.
