3DMark 11 is the latest version of the world’s most popular benchmark for measuring the 3D graphics performance of gaming PCs. 3DMark 11 uses a native DirectX 11 engine designed to make extensive use of all the new features in DirectX 11, including tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading.
Since Futuremark is releasing 3DMark11 today we decided to run the benchmark at both performance and extreme presets to see how our hardware will run.
Benchmark results: The GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD7 was able to yield some solid scores in 3DMark 11 when coupled with the AMD FX-8150 ‘Bulldozer’ processor. Unfortunately the ASUS Crosshair V Formula was able to outperform the 990FXA-UD7 by a small margin. While running the Extreme preset the GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD7 was able to score 1618 points overall and 1463 points for the graphics score. The ASUS Crosshair V Formula was able to achieve 1651 points overall and 1494 points in the graphics score. While running the performance preset, the GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD7 was once again bested by the Crosshair V Formula. The overall score for the 990FXA-UD7 was 4949 points and the graphics score was 4701 points. The ASUS Crosshair V Formula was just beyond the 5000 point line with 5022 overall and a 4785 GPU score.
