Grand Theft Auto V

GTAV

Grand Theft Auto V, currently one of the hottest PC games, was finally released for the PC on April 14, 2015.  Developed by Rockstar, it is set in 2013 and the city of Los Santos.  It utilizes the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) which Rockstar has been using since 2006, with multiple updates for technology improvements.

In Grand Theft Auto V we set the game to run with no MSAA with 16x AF and high image quality settings as we didn’t want the GPU to bottleneck the system too bad, but wanted a setup that your average gamer would actually play on. We used the games built-in benchmark utility to have at least one game we used that could be compared to your setup at home. We averaged all the five of the default benchmark runs and omitted both the minimum and maximum values as those results are garbage due to major inconsistencies.

1080P Benchmark Results: After running the games built-in benchmark and averaging the runs together, we found that the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC was 3 FPS faster than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 FE on average.

gtav-2k

1440P Benchmark Results: After running the games built-in benchmark and averaging the runs together, we found that the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC was 1 FPS faster than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 FE on average.

gtav-4k

4K Ultra HD Benchmark Results: Though with a decently lower minimum framerate, the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC was almost 2 FPS faster than the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 FE on average.

I have the EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FWT Gaming ACX and I am only getting a max of 30FPS in X-Plane 11 and 60 Max in Arma 3 ? I am waiting on a replacement because those stats are unacceptable for a $699 video card!

    • Dennis Carraher

Its not the gpu fault, its the programmers lack of coding for multithreading. ARMA 3 is single threaded based, throwing most of the work on one thread.

      • Dennis L. Ayers

I sure with the programmers would make use of the GPU more! I think they have reached the peak of programming and PCs. Now it will be only very small increments! They are selling Hype now! ha ha The devs of CPU will blame it on the GPU and vice versa!

        • Mat TheCat

Both those games are notoriously poorly optimised! By way of contrast, you could run BF1 multiplayer maxed out at 4K with a solid 60FPS with that card.

Wish i could afford it. Now with the economy going to hell I never will be able too.

You need to study economics to know how dumb your comment is.

You need to studty sociology to realize how rude your comment is

You need to study English to know how misspelled your comments is

Since we’re on the topic, let’s not forget about the importance of punctuation.

          Hahaha! That’s gold Dudeeemadudbomb. =)

        • One need only to study the internet to realize how pointless all our comments are! 😛

I study economics, and know just how poorly the US economy really is. One need look no further than the bubbles reforming in the housing market, and the gloriously over-exaggerated jumps in the market any time anyone mentions raising interest rates, to see it. The only statistics that make the economy appear to be doing well are monetary velocity, which is an indication of economic growth, but in and of itself is NOT.

Someone needs to turn the TV off, and read more.

Trump is going to help you. Soon you will be able to afford this card. When you install it in your system you can say thank you Mr Trump.

      • trog69

Or thank our new Russian overlords.

        • ddearborn

          Hmmm

The 1080 SC was redesigned and introduced as the SC2 in February 2017 because the old design didn’t properly address the dissipation of heat across the entire board.

As for Trump, he is answering to the same cabal that Obama and Bush Jr before him. We have the same “old” zionist overlords who have been in power since 9-11. And in case you haven’t been paying attention, the standard of living for all but the 1% has been in steady decline ever since. So it is a hearty and heart felt **** you to the Zionists. My point is that there will be NO recovery for the working class. The Trump administration is using the exact same metrics and procedures to come up with his bogus job numbers as Obama and Bush did before him.

As for “Russia”; it represents nothing more than a red herring to keep the unruly masses distracted while Trump goes back to war against Syria. (you have heard that Trump disembarked several troop transports full of Marines into Syria yesterday right? Trump also ordered troops on the ground in Yemen within days of his inauguration) This the zionists hope will ensure that Israel can complete the theft of Palestine and Jerusalem without undue public attention and hence outcry here in the US. Naturally Israel is also counting on Trump’s invasion to eventually remove Assad and break up Syria into pieces. (a side benefit of vilifying Russia is that no one will pay attention to their objections) With Southern Syria, including of course the Golan Heights with its massive oil and gas reserves ending up in Israeli hands…….Empire from sea to sea was the game plan since it was first proposed and rejected by President Clinton disguised in a proposal so deviously named Project for a New American Century. Bush and Chaney didn’t buy into it until they were promised LOTS of money. The invasion plans for Afghanistan as prescribed in the Project for a New American Century were on Bush’s desk on 9-10…….

Guns or butter the age old question. Instead of putting America and Americans first, our “leaders” choose guns for Israel for 16 years in a row. A new American/Israeli record by the way………
