3DMark 11 is the latest version of the worlds most popular benchmark for measuring the 3D graphics performance of gaming PCs. 3DMark 11 uses a native DirectX 11 engine designed to make extensive use of all the new features in DirectX 11, including tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading.

Since Futuremark is releasing 3DMark11 today we decided to run the benchmark at both performance and extreme presets to see how our hardware will run.

Benchmark results: The ECS X79R-AX Black Extreme fell just short of the performance that we have previously seen. During the Extreme preset of Futuremark 3DMark 11 the ECS X79R-AX has a score of 1641 3DMarks overall and was 7 points behind the GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD7 and 19 points behind the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme. The performance preset gave us an overall score of 5218 3DMarks with the ECS X79R-AX Black Extreme and was 33 points behind the GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD7 and 62 points behind the ASUS R4E. The 62 point difference is only 1.2% of the total score.
