Features and Specifications

On the front of the blister pack that the JetFlash comes in Transcend boldly states “Ultra Speed.” How is it “Ultra Speed” you ask? Is it due to some ultra-refined biomechanical organisms that switch and load data at immeasurable speeds? We will never know, but Transcend claims that it is faster then traditional flash drives due to a Single Level Cell (SLC) flash module being used, rather than a Multi Level Cell (MLC) flash module. A comparison of the two different types of memory is provided by Transcend inside the blister package:

Sadly, LR does not have any flash memory utilizing the Multi Level Cell to do a comparative benchmark, so we will have to take Transcend’s word for it. Other features that the JetFlash 110 and its software contain are:

  • USB 2.0 compatible, true Plug and Play
  • No external power or battery needed
  • Hidden USB connector, beauty and protection
  • Security Function: Password protection provided
  • PC-Lock Function: Enables the key to lock the computer
  • Boot-Up Function: Makes JetFlash a bootable device
  • Recovery Function: Restores JetFlash to its initial status
  • Size: 64mm x 21mm x 10mm (L x W x H)
  • Weight: 11g
  • Data Retention: Up to 10 years
  • Erase Cycles: >100,000 times
  • Speed: Read 18MB/sec(Max), Write 14MB/sec(Max)
  • Certificates: CE, FCC, BSMI

Overall looks like a fairly hefty package with plenty of nice things it can do when bundled with software. Let’s go on to see how it looks, as well as how well it performs.
